Finding accommodation for a short period in Uppsala is not very easy. This is the main reason why Uppsala University has established an agreement with Akademihotellet to offer furnished apartments and rooms to Exchange students and Guest Researchers at Uppsala University.

Akademihotellet has two dimensions to its work. As the Swedish name implies, it is in fact a hotel in central Uppsala. The Housing Office also has a range of apartments and rooms that are offered exclusively to University visitors. The apartments are rented from various house owners and located in different areas in Uppsala.

The rooms are not student dormitories in the generally accepted sense of the word, nor are they owned nor operated by the Housing Office: they are rented from private housing companies in Uppsala and subleased to our guests. 

Master students and free movers are not guarranteed accommodation by the University and must find their own housing. The housing market in Sweden, and especially Uppsala, is likely very different to the housing market you are used to and it will take significant time and effort to secure housing. Contact your coordinator at the department to see if they have suggestions for accommodation, or you can read the comprehensive information available at the Student Union.
